#1,669 New Orleans Date Night.

Tomorrow is going to be the first ever Lucky Luxe Annual Conference in New Orleans for a couple of reasons: our pressman lives here, and Sauce is from here, they’ll both be in town this weekend, and it’s going to be the first time we’ve all been together at the same time. Is that not insane? We work together every day making Lucky Luxe happen, all the cogs of the machine that make the invitations we send all over the world, and we rarely see each other in person.

So after work this evening, Ben and I drove down for a little date night by ourselves. We used the Priceline Express Deals and got a really nice hotel room at the Marriott in the French quarter for $70, when it normally would have been $180. It was a risky maneuver for me, the Queen of Safe Bets, and I’m glad this gamble paid off and I’ll have a comfy, fluffy white bed for the night. And the view is pretty good, too.

We started off with a fancy Frenchy dinner at La Petite Grocery on Magazine Street where the portions were tiny but the food was incredible. I had shrimp and grits and Ben had roasted chicken with potatoes, and we shared pecorino macaroni and cheese with a baked cornbread crust. SO GOOD.

Afterward we went walking through the (completely revolting/wonderful) French Quarter with a mind to get beignets from Cafe Du Monde with a cafe au lait and some Friday night people watching.

As we were eating beignets, I was scrolling through facebook and spotted:

Our old friend was playing at a bar near Magazine Street, so of course we had to do the serendipitous thing and go see him.

And while we were there, we met Ben Franklin.

The end.
