Your Guide to the Holidays in Laurel

If you're planning a trip to Laurel this holiday season, you've picked a great time of the year to visit! Laurel truly becomes magical during the fall/winter months. The holidays in Laurel include some of our most popular events, making this time of the year even more special. We're including some of our favorite events with details so that you can make plans to ring in the holidays with us. We hope to see y'all around downtown Laurel over the next few months!

* Loblolly Festival | October 5 | 9am-5pm Laurel's annual Loblolly Festival- is a festival honoring our rich heritage as a sawmill town. Artisans from several states set up shop along the streets, live music can be heard all throughout downtown, the aroma of authentic festival food fills the air, and scarecrows can be spotted in front of each business throughout downtown as they all participate in the Scarecrow Invasion contes so be sure to be on the lookout for those! This family friendly event also has plenty of activities for the kiddos so bring the family and plan to spend the day with us on October 5! 

*Loblolly Festival 2019 was such a successful event! This was the largest Loblolly we've had yet! There were more vendors at this festival than we've ever had and we had to pleasure of meeting so many folks that traveled hundreds to thousands of miles just to visit Laurel and experience Loblolly! It's our favorite way to welcome in the season of fall. If you missed out on Loblolly this year, don't worry! Loblolly happens to the first Saturday in October each year. Make plans to be with us next year.

Scotsman's Super Spooky Spectacular | October 28 | 5-8pm Join us at the Scotsman General Store in downtown Laurel for a family night centered around Halloween! We will have plenty of Halloween themed yard games and if you come dressed in costume, you'll receive a free candy bag. Plus, be sure and check out Ben's Spooky Woodshop from inside the general store! 

Trick or Treating | October 31 | 5-7pm  Halloween is a huge deal in downtown Laurel. Residents and residences are in full decor, most of the streets in the historic district will be blocked off so that kids can freely run from house to house to load up their 50lb sacks full of candy and treats! At times, it feels as though we're walking through a movie set.. So bring your kiddos and get downtown to experience Halloween in Laurel! 

Christmas Open House | November 3 | 12:30pm-5pm The annual downtown merchant's Christmas open house will take place on November 3rd. Retailers of downtown Laurel will open their doors and usher in the holiday season. Get a head start on all of your Christmas shopping, holiday decor and more!  

Small Business Saturday | November 30 | 9am-6pm Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year. It's a way to get into the Christmas spirit while also supporting small businesses by shopping local. Visit our downtown merchants for all of your shopping needs this holiday season. 

Christmas Tree Lighting | December 5 & 6 | 5pm-6:30pm Join together with the city of Laurel for the lighting of the city's Christmas tree in Pinehurst Park in downtown Laurel. The festivities will include caroling as well as music from Laurel High School's Select Choir. 

Kiwanis Pancake Day | December 7 | 6am-1pm Each year, on the first Saturday in December, locals and travelers from miles away will gather to the YWCO and feast together on fresh pancakes. Stick around for the Christmas parade downtown, which begins at 10am! 

37th Annual Sertoma Christmas Parade | December 7 | 10am - 11am On the first Saturday in December of every year, the city of Laurel gather in downtown and line the streets to watch as the parade passes by. Make plans to join us for the 37th annual Christmas parade in downtown Laurel! 


Downtown Countdown | December 31 | 6pm - until This year, join us for a New Years celebration in downtown Laurel! The event begins at 6pm with several activities that are kid friendly including a balloon drop at 8pm. The official opening of the event will begin at 8:30 with live music as well as the opening of the VIP Roaring into the 20's Tent. At midnight, we'll ring in the new year with a Pine Cone Drop, fireworks, and special live music!
