#2,702 Keeping Our Hometowns Strong.
by Erin Napier
Remember a few weeks ago when I told you Ben and I spent a whole Sunday afternoon working on a storyboard for something very special? This was the rough draft of those boards:
And this is the stunning final product:
Tonight on Home Town, you got to visit the foundry with Ben, Josh and Jim. That company has been part of the fabric of our city since the turn of the twentieth century, and we’re lucky to count the Mulloy family as friends. There are factories like this all over America whose communities depend on them, and at Laurel Mercantile we’re proud to design and manufacture all of our signature heirloom wares and durable goods here in the USA, including LMF’s cast iron skillets, boot scrapers, and boot crickets.
I’ve watched it no less than 100 times today and every time it makes me feel like crying because we care so deeply about what we’re building our business on.

I’m Erin Napier, co-owner of Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. with my husband, Ben. I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
