#2,491 Lott Furniture.
by Erin Napier
In a few weeks, we’ll be opening the doors of the Laurel Mercantile Co. on Front Street just in time for Christmas. We’ll hope and pray that it’s a lasting, beloved shop in Laurel with a legacy like a few other businesses in our town. One of those businesses is just a few doors down from us — Lott Furniture Co., the oldest store in Laurel. The owners, the Rowells, are some of the amazingly passionate people who are part of the heartbeat of our city that’s seeing such an amazing revival and this little video about their history made my heart swell and I nearly cried at my table in Mi Casita over a hot basket of tortilla chips. It’s so good. I love these precious people, our neighbors. I can’t wait to share Front Street with them and the other shops opening soon!

I’m Erin Napier, co-owner of Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. with my husband, Ben. I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
