#2,516 Slow, Sleepy Day.

I think the months of long days and early mornings and late nights are catching up with me, because today I just couldn’t wake up. The perpetually overcast day with temps hovering in the low 60s was a huge change from the weather we’ve been so used to and if I drank coffee I would have had 10 cups today to warm up and wake up. Instead, mama and I spent the afternoon stamping shopping bags for the mercantile with a fire in the fireplace and Sufjan Stevens on the radio.

When she finished her stack, she headed home and I carried on stamping for a little while until my eyes were so heavy I just couldn’t hold my head up anymore and I put on my pajamas and crawled in bed for just a little while. I didn’t go to sleep, but I “rested my eyes” for an hour and then felt a little more awake and ready to tailgate at Josh and Emily’s before the Laurel High School playoff game. We could hear the stadium announcers from their backyard fireplace and I relished the distinctly autumnal feeling of cold night air, wood smoke, and football.
