#2,586 A Good Day.
by Erin Napier
Today was a beautiful day. A very good day. This is why.
I had lunch on the porch with my family, which included a little nephew who plays in the dirt and picks up lizards and scares me with them, a boy who wouldn’t exist in our lives if not for the miracle of adoption.
And because of the way sawdust falls in a beam of sunlight:
And because the dog house got a roof today:
And the heart of my city glows like a lantern, guiding me home:
And because my parents gave me a notebook with my grandfather’s signature on it and all of my grandmother’s handwritten dessert recipes inside.
Because life is a gift. Every minute of it. I hope you found it to be that today, too.
