Kick Off Mississippi's Art Museum Month in Laurel

Beginning in August, the Mississippi Art Commission starts a new campaign called “Art Museum Month Mississippi” that makes supporting the arts FREE for in-state and out-of-state residents. Now locals and tourists alike can enjoy seven of Mississippi’s major arts institutions that will offer free admission, including Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel.

George Bassi, Executive Director from the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, says, “This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for visitors and tourists to explore the incredible visual arts institutions across our state and take advantage of free admission. We have such a rich artistic heritage in Mississippi, and I can think of no better way to showcase it than this program. We especially hope that people and families who do not regularly frequent museums will find that August is a perfect time to visit!”

Participating institutions include Lauren Rogers Museum of Art (Laurel), The Mathews-Sanders Sculpture Garden (Cleveland), Mississippi Arts & Entertainment Experience (Meridian), Mississippi Museum of Art(Jackson), Museum of the Mississippi Delta (Greenwood), Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art (Biloxi) and Walter Anderson Museum of Art (Ocean Springs). Campaign partners include Mississippi Arts Commission and Visit Mississippi.

Go to visitmississippi.org/artmuseums, and fill out the form to receive a pass for free admission to any participating Art Museum Month Mississippi institution.
