#1,844 Cozy Downton Sunday.

It feels like it’s been a million years since I last spent a Sunday night on the couch with Lord and Lady Grantham flickering above the mantle and tonight the wait was finally over! I think I’m not so much attached to the show as I am what it means—January, the slow, quiet nights after the holiday rush, a fire in the hearth, a pile of blankets to bury myself under.

We got up this morning and went to church. I wore a blouse I got at the fall clothes swap from Lily, and a skirt from 2004 that I had forgotten until I unearthed it from my closet at mama’s recently. And it may be my favorite skirt ever. I mean, it’s got an elastic waist! So glad it was lost but now is found.

Afterward, I put on a crock pot of Tabella roasted tomato soup, then took a little nap.

When we woke up we went for a (very) nippy 3 mile walk through the neighborhood and to the grocery for a few last minute supplies.

And before long, it was time to light my favorite cold-weather candle (seriously—it’s THE BEST candle Bath & Body Works has ever made. I light it in the breakfast room and the entire house smells exactly like hot Earl grey tea with lemon 10 minutes later):

And soon, my parents arrived for supper and the season 5 premiere. Daddy’s really not into it, but he was being a good sport and bringing mama in her pajamas since she’s been super sick with a bad cold and is feeling pitiful.

Looking back, I think he might have actually been asleep. Oh well, it still counts. He LOVES DOWNTON ABBEY.

I love winter. I really do. Though, I bet my northerner friends feel about it the way us southerners feel about summer—like it’s just something to be endured. Y’all are welcome to come for a visit!
