John Wesley said: “The grace or love of God, whence cometh our salvation, is free in all, and free for all.”
Tonight Ben talked to the youth about God’s grace and how it’s our responsibility as Christians to spread God’s grace through the world, even to (especially to) those whom we feel don’t deserve it or to those people we’ve never bothered to notice. He showed a clip from the French film Amélie where she gives Dominique Bretodeau his little memory box from childhood, it changes his life, which changes hers. She then spends her life doing kind things for everyone she meets. This lesson meant the world to me — something that I think is important for these great kids to learn as soon as possible… The world needs their grace and love. Everyone does. (screenshots from

I’m Erin Napier, co-owner of Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. with my husband, Ben. I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
