#2,235 Cake + Stationery + Walker.

This morning while we were making the coffee and eating cereal, the doorbell rang. We looked at each other and our tangled bed hair and bath robes and decided Ben had to get it. A few minutes later he returned to the kitchen with a fresh blueberry cream cheese king cake in hand, a gift from the family who are opening the new bakery this spring. I couldn’t help myself!

Delicious, y’all. Delicious.

I got to the studio and went to work updating the little portrait on Ben’s personal stationery since it never did capture his brown hair/ginger beard combo. I’m finding myself looking for reasons to paint more and more lately. I wish I had more time to practice.

Soon, I heard clumsy little feet and a gentle voice in the stairs before John Walker’s sweet voice called out for me as mama opened the door: “Ahnnie?”

It makes my heart feel full to bursting when he calls my name, Annie (Aunt E), and it made my morning to go to lunch with he, mama and Ben at Cafe La Fleur. He knows how to smile for a picture now! He loves crackers! He answers questions! He’s not a baby anymore. This is a precious boy.

Ben carried him on his shoulders on the walk back to the shop, and to see Walker and Uncle Big together just nearly kills me. He pulls at Ben’s beard with his little fingers, and tells us, “Big has boo eyes. Like Walker.”

Our sweet little one. It’s good to be his Annie.
