#2,241 Sketching & Dreaming + Ashes.
I had so much fun digging through years of inspiration images I’ve saved and scouring Pinterest for design ideas on the bakery that’s coming to downtown Laurel that Ben and I are doing design consultation on. After a few hours of researching, I did a 5 minute sketch that will be the beginning of a new chapter in this building’s story. Here it is, the old Help Your Self Store next door to Pearson’s ice cream parlor in the 1950s:
And here it is last week…
But here’s my dream. With a big new cornice at the top and no facade covering the brick, painted millwork up to the sign, little red awnings over the windows and door, classic gold lettering on the windows that feel like something you’d see on a street corner in Stars Hollow, and gooseneck lights shining down on the signage at night. Wouldn’t it be amazing? We’ll see how close we can get to this and I’m excited about the challenge. I’ll tell you all about the inside as we progress!
Tonight we went to the very somber Ash Wednesday service, where we made our commitments for Lent.
How can we be so close to Easter? Didn’t we just clean up the Christmas tree?
