#2,678 Massachusetts with Micah.
We hopped on a plane early this morning bound for Boston and were picked up at the airport by our old friend Micah of Old Try. He and his wife Marianna and their little girl Annie live just outside of Boston in a beautiful historic town called Belmont. Since he is an Alabama ex-pat Yankee these days, he was excited to give us the driving tour of Paul Revere’s ride. On our last trip up here we didn’t get to do this so it was a treat, especially for Ben who devours all he can about American history.
We arrived at the Old Manse in Concord, the house where Nathaniel Hawthorne and Ralph Waldo Emerson lived, just a few yards away from a beautiful pond and the field where the “shot heard round the world” was fired that officially began the Revolutionary War.
Afterward Ben and Annie met and they were fast friends. He’s such a cartoon character to kids!
It’s a blessing to have friends scattered all over the country so no matter how far from Laurel we roam, we still feel at home.
