#2,301 Sunday Walk + Summer Supper.

After an attempt at a nap (that, sadly, didn’t take because I got distracted Googling about the USS Arizona and also the O.J. Simpson trial and couldn’t fall asleep even though I was very sleepy—typical Sunday afternoon problem), we decided to take a really long walk while the spring breeze was whipping around the trees and the sun was shining. So much beauty at every turn, around every street corner. There are 2 houses in the neighborhood that feel like siblings to ours and this is one of them:

We walked past the gorgeous brick prairie style home I’ve been in love with since high school. This may be the only house in town that, if it were on the market, might tempt us to move from ours:

The Reeders’ home, called Sweet Olive, a wedding present to one of the daughters of Laurel’s founding families:

And after a quick trip to Winn-Dixie for some fresh vegetables, we made huge salads for a summer supper for 2 on the porch.

In my salad: hearts of romaine, red, yellow and orange bell peppers (LOTS of them), chives, sharp cheddar, lots of shoepeg corn, garlic croutons, crispy onions, dried cranberries, and a few tablespoons of homemade ranch dressing. Bottled will never do.

I love salad season.
