All day today I’ve felt like I’m seeing Ben with my 19 year-old eyes—like he’s brand new and I have a crush. Everything he says is the cleverest thing, his hair smells like oranges and I just know he spells everything correctly when he writes. I swear he held my hand sweeter than ever walking across a parking lot tonight.
Does that ever happen to you?
Also, I got new old glasses today.
I wore them my last 2 years of high school and my first 2 years of college then tossed them in a drawer to be forgotten when my taste changed. But now, I like them again. So I got my updated lenses put in the frames. Money saved!

I’m Erin Napier, co-owner of Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. with my husband, Ben. I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
