Lord Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise
This week we finished filming season 3 of #HGTVHomeTown and Laurel is feeling a little too quiet as the circus is leaving town again until next season. This year it felt like we found our stride, each of us working in tandem, doing the dance we've practiced for 3 years, some of us from the very first pilot episode, most of us since season 1, and when they leave, I miss them.
It's hard to explain how it sticks to you when you were the odd one out, the ugly duckling, in childhood. I think you move forward expecting to be left out in some ways as you grow up, and making this show is one of the few times I've felt, as an adult, that I am useful and wanted and part of something that's bigger than me. Another kind of family I've only found a couple times in life. It feels good to belong, to be thought cool when you are actually a nerd, to be part of a team. Me and Ben, our families, our framily and Home Town. Those are the place I've belonged. And I can't wait to do it again next year, God willin' and the creek don't rise.
