We’ve recently started doing lots of odd jobs around our own house that we put off all those months during filming season one and the press tour that followed this spring. Now that we have some time at home, we’ve been so busy fixing this and that. It makes me especially thankful that Big is handy in so many ways–he always knows how to do what needs to be done, and I feel a swell of pride seeing his work.
I will never forget that he was the biggest crush I ever had. It will never not make my heart beat fast to remember we share a last name. Please y’all, don’t ever forget why you fell in love with your spouse. It’s a privilege to spend a life with someone who knows everything about you and still chooses you over the world.
Mama and I got creative cooking supper together and it was delicious. She made sauteed squash, garlic, red peppers, onions and shrimp. I made fried rice. Together they were unstoppable.

I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
