It was another rainy day with another one on the way, and when we got a break in the drizzle we ran over to the bakery to apply the gold leaf lettering on the windows. Real gold leafing is very hard to come by these days, with even our most talented lettering painter shying away from it, but even in vinyl it looks so lovely. It was tedious, and my arms are sore from raising them above my head to adhere each letter and shadow, but oh my goodness…
The windows may just be my favorite thing about the whole building. This is just a tiny sneak peek because I’ll give y’all a tour the day it finally opens! It’s getting so close now!

I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
