Our new friend Cassie is the art teacher at Laurel Christian School and since they’ve been studying Albercht Durer and other printmakers, she invited me to come spend the day in her classroom and speak to her students about letterpress. It was exciting to get out of my routine! I did so much talking with this sinus infection that I’ve lost my voice—a sure sign of a day well spent.
I showed this cool video about printing on a Kluge press to every class.
Thank goodness for my sweet Mitter Ben who brought me a cherry Coke to help my sore throat!

I’m Erin Napier, co-owner of Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. with my husband, Ben. I’m an artist and he’s a craftsman and we help people moving to our town find and restore old houses on HGTV’s Home Town. In an effort to count my blessings, this journal has documented only the good things that happen on each and every day of my life since January 1, 2010. I am a wife, a daughter, a homebody, a bubble bath lover, a book reader, a sentimental, stressed out, slightly obsessive southerner. Welcome!
