#837 Mammaw’s 89th Year.

Every year we throw a big party to celebrate Mammaw’s birthday because obviously, it’s an achievement to  live such a very long life. I always look forward to it when the calendar rolls around to March, and this year we decided to do something a little more casual than cousin Kent’s grand soiree and have a gumbo supper at my parents’ house. It was so so very delicious.

She’s so remarkable. The stroke in 2008 stole away so much of her vocabulary, but she still does her best to tell us stories, to act them out, to make us laugh and make us smile. She turned 89 years old today, and when we asked her if she feels any older, her simple response was, “No. I sure don’t!”
