#1,482 Saturday at Home + Sarah.

I’m still relishing the fact that the mad dash of the holidays is over and we got to be home on a Saturday. We had fun messing with the remote control helicopter Ben got for Christmas from Jim:

It’s harder than you might think to make it go somewhere.

While I cleaned the house all morning, I spent most of the time texting back and forth with my friend Sarah. We follow each other on instagram and it turns out we’re serious kindred spirits (how many conservative, Southern and Midwestern girly girls really love The Sopranos?) and for the last month we’ve been bantering back and forth via text like old friends. That really makes the world seem like such a smaller place, doesn’t it?

After the chores were done, we bought some groceries and got busy cooking tonight’s dinner for our bunch. Earlier in the week Mallorie and Jim made supper, then a couple nights ago we ate at Josh and Em’s, so tonight I cooked from my new Robert St. John book, An Italian Palate.

Behold, Pasta Roberto, garlic green beans, and focaccia bread by our friends Dawn and Lily’s delicious new bread baking venture, Trest Baking Co.:

That’s Italian sausage, red bell peppers, green onions, and cremini mushrooms sauteed in white wine and tossed with fusilli pasta, from-scratch marinara sauce and alfredo sauce, and fresh grated pecorino romano cheese.

I wish you could reach out and get a bite of all this. So excited there’s just enough for one more serving tomorrow!

Josh and Em are home for another month! Woo!

Other activities as the night progressed?

Hook is on TV?! Hold UP.”

“Y’all want a sundae? Let’s go to DQ. Are they open at midnight?”

“Put it on Erin’s head. It won’t get tangled. Do it!”

We are grown ups. Kind of.
