#823 Art Festival & Meatballs.

As I was walking from work to the house after voting this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find that an art festival for kids was going on on the lawn of the museum across from our house. There were families everywhere, live music, balloons and cookies. I found Dawn and Anne there right away and knew I had to go get the pups and bring them over to visit with everyone. As I figured, they were the stars of the show. All the little children were either climbing all over and loving on them, or they took one look and ran screaming in terror, which is really unfortunate since they’re the gentlest giants. The azaleas and sweet olives are in full bloom all around the city, the weather was warm and breezy, and I couldn’t imagine anything sweeter than living in a place where art is celebrated so often and met with so much enthusiasm.

Tonight, mama cooked her most delicious spaghetti and homemade meatballs to impress Jim and Mallorie with how close it is to Mammaw’s famous recipe that none of us have had in years. It was so flavorful. You just can’t understand without tasting it. I mean, Mallorie who hates meatballs of any kind ate a big plate of them, for one thing.

We lingered over dinner, telling funny stories and getting seconds and thirds. Oh mama… Teach me how to make them!
